  FINDING YOUR PLACE

Home is where the heart is. Right? Old saying, but true. Being comfortable in your home is essential for so many reasons: comfort, happiness, productivity, creativity, hospitality, safety.

It is not obvious what makes you feel “at home” –in your right place—it’s really personal. Your Realtor needs to listen to you in order to match your needs to the available homes on market.

COMMON ERRORS TO AVOID

Be willing to ask for and sometimes pay for inspections and appraisals. In the end, you’ll be more satisfied; you’ll know the condition of the home, and you’ll be certain of the value of the home.

HOME INSPECTIONS

They can help you know what you’re getting into. A good inspector can point out flaws and give you confidence that the home you are buying is sound in structure and mechanics.

WHO KNOWS THE MARKET?

A good Realtor will be familiar with the local market. Ask questions. Get answers. Your Realtor should be able to familiarize you with fair market values, traffic patterns, schools, shopping, hazards and more.

HOME INSPECTOR’S TOP 10 POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

Water where it doesn’t belong. Mold developing in hidden places. Things that don’t work: HVAC/water heater, windows, doors/knobs, gas fireplaces. Chipping paint. Sagging roof. Gutters that lead water back to the house.

HOUSE HUNTING WORKSHEET

Know what you’re after. Make a personal checklist. Be willing to compromise but be careful. Know which items you value most. Don’t compromise on those if you don’t have to.

WHAT MAKES A DEAL SOLID?

Closing a real estate deal depends on successfully fulfilling the following: agreeable price for all parties, acceptable method of payment (cash is King), dates that accommodate everyone’s needs, positive inspection, and accurate appraisal.
